Computing & Technology
Enhancing the educational experience with technology is a top priority within the business school. There’s a lot available exclusively for business students.
Along with our tech resources, the Computing & Information Technology department (C&IT) provides IT services and resources for the Wayne State community. Students may be particularly interested in C&IT’s e-mail and wireless network help, along with discounts on software, mobile phones and more.
Computer Classrooms
Computer classrooms in the Prentis Building help integrate modern technology into the educational experience.
The workstations include data-mining software, Oracle server applications, and enterprise resource planning software. A unique room configuration allows students to use technology and benefit from faculty expertise at the same time.
The classrooms host computer-based courses – including marketing, finance and statistics courses – along with special events and student orientation.
Computing Lab
The business computer lab in the Prentis Building gives students convenient access to the productivity software and technology they need to succeed. On-site staff is available to help solve technical issues and answer questions.
The lab is open Monday-Thursday from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Software
Many of our courses make extensive use of high-end, state-of-the-art software aimed at maximizing students’ educational experiences.
Some examples include the data-mining software package SPSS and the enterprise resource planning solution MAS 200. Students can also access our Oracle database with any Web connection, which allows them to work with the number one relational database in the world.
We offer these resources so students experience actual, real-world tech environments and learn by doing.
QuestionPro
QuestionPro is an easy-to-use, Web-based survey service. Our license is equivalent to a corporate license and offers many comprehensive features.
Many students use QuestionPro to do primary research on class projects, entrepreneurial ventures and more.
