Ilitch School team wins first place in case competition at healthcare supply chain conference

On Friday, April 12, 2024, the Department of Global Supply Chain Management at the Mike Ilitch School of Business partnered with the Michigan Association of Healthcare Resource and Materials Management to host “Connecting the Divide: Partnering with Clinicians,” a conference and case competition designed to expose students to the healthcare supply chain industry. 

During the case competition, the team of students from the Ilitch School consisting of Angel Gardner, Peter Kovacs, Ahmed Saeed and Malak Sohoubah took home first prize, competing against teams from Central Michigan University, Western Michigan University and University of Toledo. 

The event also featured presentations from vendors, including Freight Verify and Henry Schein, and two presentations from industry leaders in supply chain. The first address, “Sourcing and Value Analysis: Clinical Engagement in Product Decision Making” was presented by Dr. Joe Patton and Kelley Young from Henry Ford Health System, and the second address “Bridging the gap between supply chain and clinical” was presented by Angela Newman, Senior Director of Market Solutions and Katie Treptow, Senior Director of Marketing.
