WSU supply chain professor to travel to Poland on Fulbright grant

Dr. Timothy Butler, associate professor of global supply chain management in the Wayne State University School of Business, will spend three weeks in Poland this fall thanks to a grant from the U.S. Department of State's Fulbright Specialist Program.

The grant will allow Butler to work with faculty and students at the International University of Logistics and Transport in Wroclaw. Established in 2001 in Poland's fourth-largest city, the University of Logistics and Transport in Wroclaw offers undergraduate and graduate programs that are accredited by the United Kingdom’s Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, one of the most important logistics and transport institutions in Europe.

The global supply chain management program at WSU has grown dramatically in recent years. The undergraduate major, alone, has grown from less than 100 students in 2008 to nearly 400 today. Part of this growth is certainly attributable to the hard work of Butler and his colleagues to provide enhanced experiential learning opportunities - both locally and globally - to WSU students.

"It's an honor to have been awarded this Fulbright Specialist grant," Butler said. "I look forward to building on existing partnerships and enhancing educational opportunities for both WSU students wishing to study internationally and Polish students who want to learn from Wayne State faculty."
