Intro business course uses experiential learning to help "green the D"

A group of students from Wayne State University School of Business Administration’s Introduction to Business course (B A 2020) participated in a Greening of Detroit event on Oct. 4.

Eighty-five students took part in this WSU collaboration with Detroit Future City and planted 300 trees to beautify an urban residential neighborhood. Sherilynn Perelli, senior lecturer of management, said having her students participate in this project allowed her students to put their knowledge of product management to the test.

M.B.A. students Elena Camp and Artasia Myers, who serve as learning community mentors for the class, and M.B.A. candidate and course teaching assistant Robert Reaves worked with DFC’s Chris Dorle to mobilize one of Greening of Detroit’s biggest civic engagement efforts and to demonstrate project management skills to aspiring business practitioners.
