Department of Accounting
Welcome to the Department of Accounting!
The Department of Accounting is one of the distinguished departments within the School of Business Administration. We offer accounting courses that lead to a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, Master of Science in Accounting, Master of Science in Taxation and M.B.A. with concentration in accounting. Accounting is a popular undergraduate major at Wayne State University.
Our programs meet Michigan's requirements to sit for the Certified Public Accountant exam and the educational requirements of the Institute of Management Accountants and the Institute of Internal Auditors.
Our accounting graduates occupy both executive and internship positions within national corporations, positions with the big four accounting firms and regional public accounting firms. Our goal is to offer students a rich, multicultural learning experience with academic programs that will prepare them for a productive and rewarding career in accounting (both at public accounting firms and in industry) and a lifetime of socially responsible citizenship in the global economy.
We are very proud of our students, faculty, and staff. At Wayne State you will find a student body that reflects Michigan's diversity and a faculty with established academic and professional scholarship who are also dedicated teachers and mentors. Together - students, faculty and staff - we strive to create and maintain an academic environment that exemplifies excellence in both teaching and scholarship.
